This is a sprig of Corsican mint (Mentha requienii), which is the type of mint that’s used to make creme de menthe. I also just discovered that it’s considered invasive in the southeastern U.S. by some. House Digest says it’s debated, and the NC Cooperative Extension doesn’t even mention it, but it does have a section on another plant called Corsican carpet (Soleirolia soleirolii)which can be invasive, and looks very similar to the mint, so I wonder if people get them confused.

This post was going to be about something something, but then I decided to take the opportunity to do a little site-building and add a “Resources” page, and figure out how to create actual links there. I did that, and now my brain is quite tired. Shit like this doesn’t make me cry as much as it used to, and it’s not as intimidating, but it still wears me the fuck out. I’m pretty proud that I did it, though, and also that I’m bothering to at least acknowledge the scientific names of plants. It does help in the gardening realm.

Other upcoming additions to The Self Steader will be a way to subscribe, contact info, a way to comment on specific blogs, and a way to send me dollars.

That last one feels weird to even think, much less write where people might see it. (!) But there it is. I am diversifying my income potential, because my mind works better than it used to and my body doesn’t.

Learn more about that, plus another dentistry adventure, in the near future!
